The California Federation of Interpreters has reached tentative agreements in two of the three regions bargaining new contracts. CFI, a unit of the Guild, represents about 850 interpreters employed in California courts.

The Bay News Rising Student Union and the Pacific Media Workers Guild reached a collective bargaining agreement Tuesday after an hour of negotiations.

Guild proposal reflected concerns from a member survey, recent small-group meetings and an internal analysis of payroll data. Since 2008 members have suffered a 14.25 percent loss in inflation-adjusted dollars, increased to 16.1 percent with inclusion of lost vacation.

The Guild's newest members from Purple Communications are American Sign Language Interpreters from Arizona, California and Colorado. They began talks with management Tuesday.
