Fresno Bee copy editors “move” to Sac Bee

McClatchy Company has consolidated the editorial production of eight of its papers today with the virtual move of Fresno copy editors to the Sacramento headquarters.  This consolidation includes the Sacramento Bee, Fresno Bee, Modesto Bee, the Merced Sun-Star and four weeklies.

The “move’ affects eleven hourly employees at the Fresno Bee. While the Fresno copy editors will not be required to relocate, they will transition to the Sac Bee Editorial Production Center (EPC) payroll, and they will have different managers.  None will experience loss of seniority or pay.

Our Fresno Bee copy editor members will join the Guild Sac Bee EPC unit, which is led by Ed Fishbein.  Email efishb@aol.com. Fresno liaison is Kathleen Coates. Email kslcoates@aol.com.

We encourage those who have not yet joined the Guild to do so.  Download membership application here. Download ACH dues debit form here.
