ORGANIZATION

Local 39521 was created by the 1998 merger of the Northern California Newspaper Guild Local 52 and Bay Area Typographical Union Local 21. We merged with the San Jose Guild in 2009 and are known these days as the California Media Workers Guild.

Members of each union shop constitute a Unit. Members elect delegates to the Representative Assembly (RA), which is the Local's legislative and policy making body. Local and Unit officers constitute the Executive Committee (EC), which administers affairs of the Local. For more information, read our Local Bylaws.

Our main office is managed by Executive Officer Doug Cuthbertson and is located at 433 Natoma Street (third floor) in San Francisco. Pension and Health & Welfare trust administrative offices also are located here. The Typographical Sector office is on the second floor.
