El Tecolote provides voice to Bay Area Latino community

The Pacific Media Workers Guild is pleased to recognize and honor El Tecolote newspaper for its 50 years of commitment in providing a voice to the San Francisco Bay Area Latino community.

Located in the heart of the Mission District, El Tecolote is the oldest bilingual English/Spanish newspaper in California;

El Tecolote has for 50 years provided the most comprehensive news about the Mission District and the Bay Area Latino community focusing on the social, economic and political issues and the popular culture of the community;

El Tecolote is considered one of the best neighborhood newspapers in San Francisco and has won numerous awards for its reporting and has continued to be a training ground for Latino youth to pursue a career in journalism. It has shown its commitment to the Latino community by reporting on the ravages of the COVID-19 virus and has a history of working in tandem with other communities of color in the San Francisco Bay Area.
