Gathering of the western guilds

Two dozen delegates and Guild officers gathered in Long Beach this weekend for the biggest Western District Council meeting in at least a decade.

For the first time, locals from Minnesota, Denver, Pueblo and Chicago joined the western locals as the regional guild organization expanded, part of an on-going national reorganization.

Bernie Lunzer, president, and Carol Rothman, secretary-treasurer, of the international guild sector of CWA, joined western regional vice-president, Michael Cabanatuan to represent TNG. They outlined the guild’s latest efforts to meet the financial and bargaining challenges facing the union. Lunzer summarized the latest strategies. “We are working very hard to preserve our guild community at a time of great uncertainty,” he said.
