We’re proud to announce that our union siblings at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) have ratified their first contract under the aegis of the Pacific Media Workers Guild Local 39521 TNG-CWA.
A three year agreement, this first collective bargaining agreement contains the following standard-setting highlights:
- Just Cause Job Security–including progressive discipline and support for performance improvement.
- Grievance and Arbitration Processes
- Protections against layoffs such as: notice requirements, reclassifications, severance, and recall rights.
- A Labor-Management Committee to improve communication between management and staff.
- Protections against out-sourcing.
- Minimum Salaries and a 9% wage increase over the life of the agreement.
- Sick Leave on day one of the job–no need for accruals.
- Four months of Parental Leave.
